Supplying Data to Control Systems
Omron Scientific Technologies, Inc.'s scanners serve as an input device to control systems, supplying the raw data for the control system to analyze. The scanner's outputs are generally based on the beam status at any given time. Conversion to specific physical information such as height, width, length, or volume must be performed in the external control system. Our scanners provide an important and powerful first step in this process. For many applications, however, the scanners can directly provide a go/no-go decision by providing detection within specific zones, or setting thresholds. Additionally, the optional analog output for the ValuScan can frequently provide direct input to a servo control system.
The height or width of an object can easily be measured using a single axis scanner. ValuScan systems can perform this function directly.
Holes can be detected in almost any opaque material.

Omron STI scanners can determine the level of slack loops. ValuScan operates best when scanning opaque materials
Use ValuScan for detecting changes in height, width, length, volume, position, level, and profile. ValuScan can detect the height of liquid in transparent bottles if the liquid itself is dark or opaque.
